Sparkling drinks are the way we celebrate any and every occasion. And any time we can make a super easy bubbly drink that we can have on hand to be ready to celebrate at a moment’s notice, that’s even better.
And that’s just what we created with boozy ice cubes. A super easy way to customize any bubbly drink that is perfect for any occasion.
Customized Boozy Ice Cubes
We started experimenting with boozy ice cubes just for fun and to see if they really do freeze (you know, since there’s alcohol in them) and we quickly became obsessed.
And just like with any recipes, you create some that are amazing (the peach ones below) and you create some that you instantly toss (the watermelon ones that we will spare you.). But as we have been creating more and more, we discovered how fun these are to create the perfect sparkling drinks for everyone celebrating with you.
Why Boozy Ice Cubes
- They are so easy to make. Not that a bubbly cocktail isn’t easy to make, but there’s something about creating a batch of ice cubes, throwing them in the freezer and having them ready when you need them. Honestly, if I want to make a big batch drink like a sangria, that takes timing with a date and time that we’re having a celebration. With boozy ice cubes, I can call the girls over and I am ready to celebrate!
- They’re super easy for everyone to customize their own drink. With these ice cubes, you can add a couple to give it a hint of flavor or a lot to give it a lot of flavor. If you like your drinks sweeter, you may want to add a bunch whereas if you only like a hint of sweetness, you’ll be happy with a couple.
- They keep your drink cold and don’t water it down! I mean during the summer is there a better reason?
- It’s the perfect way to use up any leftover sparkling wine at the end of an evening.
How to Make Sparkling Drinks with Boozy Ice Cubes
This is the best part because it’s so darn easy. All you do is top your ice cubes with your favorite bubbly. That’s literally it.
Now here are some tips when choosing the bubbly to create the perfect sparkling drinks.
The fruit will add a bit of sweetness to your sparkling drinks, so choosing a bubbly that is brut, extra brut or brut nature will ensure your drink isn’t too sweet.
Now, if you have some sweet drink lovers, you will want to choose the dry, extra dry, demi-sec end of the scale. (If you’re as confused as many are when it comes to sweetness levels of sparkling wine, take this with you into the store so you never grab the wrong sweetness level again.)
You don’t need an expensive bottle of bubbly when you’re planning to add boozy ice cubes. We have been playing with proseccos and cavas as we’ve been taste testing these.
LaMarca Prosecco Rosé is one of my favorite bottles of rosé and I always have one chilling. A bottle of Freixenet cava is also always chilled and ready for these types of bubbly drinks.
