We were on a quest to create the perfect fresh mint cocktail.  We don’t often use fresh herbs in our cocktails and since we bought a mint plant, we figured now was the time to try and create it.

The Keys to a Delicious Mint Cocktail

If you want your mint drink to have the best flavor, be sure to do these three things:

  • Use fresh ingredients.  That means fresh mint leaves, not a mint syrup or mint essential oils.
  • Use fresh lime juice.  We always keep the bottled stuff in our refrigerator for those cocktail emergencies, but these will really taste better with the real thing.
  • Smack your mint before adding it to the cocktail shaker or the drink.

We certainly love a moscow mule and a mint julep, but we wanted to create some a, fresh mint cocktail, bubbly style of course that are perfect for any hot summer day.   And we think we nailed it with these three delicious fruity, minty drinks.

Best Mint Cocktails

Blackberry Mint

I keep buying fresh blackberries when they’re on sale at the grocery store and I don’t know why because I don’t eat them.  But thankfully, I do love them in alcoholic drinks, so it just made sense to use them up in this refreshing cocktail.

  • 4-6 Fresh mint leaves
  • 4 Fresh blackberries
  • 2 oz Vodka
  • OPTIONAL:  Splash of Simple syrup
  • 2 oz Blackberry Bubly water
  • Bubbly
  1. In a cocktail shaker, add fresh mint leaves, blackberries and vodka.  Using a cocktail muddler, muddle well. When you muddle mint, it really makes the flavor pop!
  2. Add ice and shake.
  3. Double strain into your favorite champagne glass.
  4. Add Bubly water and sparkling wine.
  5. Garnish with mint leaves and blackberry.

Peach Mint

I saw someone on Instagram make a peach ginger drink and I knew I had to add my fun twists to make it a true Bubbly Side cocktail.  And I’m pretty sure we nailed it.  This is so good and it’s your daily serving of fruit too, right?  🙂

  • 4 Peach slices
  • 1- 1 1/2 oz Bourbon
  • 1 oz Ginger Liquor (or 1/2 oz ginger simple syrup)
  • 4 Mint leaves
  • 1 oz Fresh lime juice
  • 2 oz Ginger beer (to top)
  • Bubbly
  • OPTIONAL:  Garnish with a fresh lime wedges
  1. In a blender, add the peach slices, bourbon and ginger liquor.
  2. Pour mixture into your favorite glass.  We used a wine glass, but a rocks glass or a collins glass works as well.
  3. Take 4 fresh mint sprigs and give them a good smack.  Add them to the drink.
  4. Give it a stir.
  5. Add ginger beer.
  6. And if you’re like me and can’t have enough bubbly, top with a brut bubbly.
  7. Garnish with lime slices.

Strawberry Mint

The perfect refreshing summer strawberry drink.  This cocktail was perfect for a hot summer day because the ice cube keeps this drink nice and chilled.  And what makes it so fun, is the drink evolves as the ice cube melts.  It really is the perfect summer cocktail.

I decided the star of the show was going to be the ice cubes.  So I took a strawberry sparkling water, slapped a sprig of mint and added it to each ice cube tray and let it freeze overnight.

Ice cubes:

  • Strawberry Sparkling Water
  • Mint leaves

And we had a lot of fun creating different versions of this cocktail.  To make  perfect strawberry cucumber cocktails, we added 1 1/2 oz cucumber vodka to one ice cube.  Added a bit more sparkling water and it made the perfect refreshing cocktail.

If you’re a strawberry lover like I am, adding strawberry vodka to one ice cube makes the perfect summer strawberry drink.

We of course, played with some other options and these were our favorites.

  • 1 1/2 oz Cucumber Vodka
  • 1 1/2 oz Strawberry Vodka
  • 1 1/2 oz Vodka
  • 1 1/2 oz Vanilla Vodka
  1. Add ice cubes and your choice of vodka to a champagne glass.
  2. Top with bubbly or a sparkling rosé.

TIP:  Add splash of soda water if you’re serving immediately.

The best way to serve this up is to put the ice cubes in each glass and allow your guests to choose which vodka they want to add.  Have the bubbly out to make it easy to top and you have the easiest cocktail bar for a happy hour or those special occasions when you don’t want to play bartender all day.

NOTE:  We were having a lot of fun with the flavored sparkling waters creating these recipes.  If you can’t find it or don’t have it on hand, club soda or any soda water works just fine.  If you want to create a fruitier flavor, either muddle fresh fruit in (gently, don’t destroy the bubbles) and strain it into your drink.  Or add fresh fruit and let your fizzy soda water sit for a few hours for those flavors to infuse into the water.
