Acrylic Painting Class with MAKEart Studios

This workshop is a relaxed acrylic painting experience inspired by expressive, colorful bottle portraits like the examples shown. Each participant will create one vertical bottle painting on a 12 by 4 inch canvas, treating their chosen bottle as if it were sitting for its ownportrait.

Working step by step, participants will explore acrylic painting techniques that focus on bold color, loose brushwork, and simplified shapes rather than fine detail. We will talk about observing the personality of the bottle, its curves, proportions, and label placement, and translating that into paint with confidence and playfulness.

There is a bit of portrait painting humor built into the process. Your bottle is the model for the evening, patiently holding its pose while you capture its likeness. Unlike a human model, it does not move, blink, or ask for breaks, which makes it a very forgiving subject. Acrylic paint allows for layering, adjusting, and revising as you go, making it a great medium for experimenting and loosening up.

Each participant will complete one finished or in progress bottle painting that feels graphic, colorful, and personal. The narrow format works beautifully as a statement piece that can be framed, gifted, or displayed as a celebration of a favorite bottle.

This workshop is well suited for beginners as well as those with some painting experience. All supplies are provided, including the painting surface, acrylic paints, brushes, and guidance throughout the session.
