Valentine’s Day….you either love it or you hate it, am I right?
Well, we have good news for you….with or without a Valentine, it’s a day to celebrate for sure. We celebrated a bit early with a Galentine’s Day Weekend where we whipped up some fun Valentine’s Day cocktails, lots of great food (and treats of course), and the conversation flowed.
So, let’s celebrate, shall we!
Starting with a new, easy and super fun
Here’s what you’ll need:
Step 1: Cotton Candy in the Glass
Step 2: Pour in the Bubbly
Step 3: Enjoy! See I told you this one was easy!
I found cotton candy at Target, over the holidays but, of course, you can grab some on Amazon, Oriental Trading, or Party City.
Bubbly Tip: choose a Brut or Extra Brut bottle of bubbly because those are on the drier side (less sweet) giving you the room you need to add straight sugar.
As with all of our cocktails, we do love to put frozen fruit in each glass to keep it chilled. For this, we matched the flavor of the cotton candy we got.
another easy to make and quite tasty cocktail.
What you’ll need for each drink:
For each drink, take 1/4 cup of strawberries and 1/2 lime and blend it together in your blender. You can also muddle the strawberries and lime juice if that’s easier. Then top with bubbly.
If you like a sweeter drink, then definitely use an Almond Sparkling Wine like the one pictured here from Wilson Creek. And if you want to taste more of the the strawberry and lime, then use a brut. Either way, you can’t go wrong!
Step 1: Blend up the strawberries and lime juice into a puree.
Step 2: Top with bubbly.
Step 3: Enjoy!
If you aren’t much of a Valentine’s Day cocktails person then Sokol Blosser’s Evolution Sparkling wine is definitely for you. These wines are near and dear to my heart for so many reasons, and I keep them around the house all the time. Plus, check out how cute these glitter bottles are! Here’s the good news…you can get these bubbles in the glitter bottles or in their original bottles.
If you have read the story of how the Bubbly Side of Life came to be then you know Sokol Blosser is the reason behind the name. If you haven’t read our story, you can read about it here. In all honestly, I did love their sparkling wines even before then. I mean take a look at their bottle, yes, just the bottle, isn’t it the best?!
This is a go-to for every celebration. One of my favorite things is that it has a spot right on the label to write something you are celebrating. And yes, we always write exactly the reason we are popping that cork.
I love this one because it’s made in the méthode traditionelle process and is dry and super crisp and clean. It’s definitely an easy one to enjoy on its own and open multiple bottles in one evening (or morning, I mean, brunch, right?).
This is made in the same méthode traditionelle process as the Evolution Brut with the perfect pink color thanks to the Pinot Noir.
This is made from their Evolution Red (which is an enjoyable red) and then they added bubbles to make it sparkling. It’s perfect for dinners and especially with the homemade pizza sauce below. Plus of course the color is perfect for Valentine’s Day cocktails.
There’s definitely something for everyone in this selection of bubblies. But why not have one of each to pair with our perfect Galentine’s Day weekend dinner?
Whether it’s a Galentine’s day weekend or a Valentine’s Day weekend for you these menu option are perfect to pair with any of the bubblies above.
Super easy. Super fun. And super yummy! And let’s face it, bread + cheese + bubbly, how can you go wrong?
You can make this as easy or as complicated as you like. The best part is that everyone gets their pizza exactly how they like it. If that isn’t a reason to celebrate I don’t know what is!
Here’s my favorite recipe for homemade pizza sauce. Just know that you need a few hours since this needs to cook down slowly. I suggest making it ahead of time and storing it for a day or two in the fridge.
And if you’re like me and don’t always plan that far in advance, you can always buy pre-made pizza sauce.
I love using Boboli pizza crusts, but you of course, have other options as well. If you are really ambitious you can make pizza crust ahead as well.
And now for the fun, toppings. Here’s a list to get you started. Don’t forget to add some that think outside the box as well.
So, you have Valentine’s Day cocktails and you have yummy pizza….all that is missing is dessert.
Inspired by Jenny Cookies we’re going to whip up a Chartreaterie Board. Which is a fancy term for sticking a bunch of treats on a board with some dips and calling it dessert.
You can fill it with chocolate covered cookies, peanut butter filled pretzels, candies, brownie crisps, wafers, toasted coconut granola bark, s’mores, coconut crispy rolls, Belgian cookies and chocolate covered pretzels. We added peanut butter, cookie butter, and fudge sauce for dipping all our tasty treats with. There is no right or wrong way to create this. Just follow your heart… or maybe your taste buds.
And lastly, I don’t know about you, but I love a good themed shirt or tumbler for every occasion. And when I saw a version of these shirts, I had to call Carly and Cass and bubbly-ize them. I absolutely LOVE how they turned out!
And needless to say, the girls loved them too and couldn’t think of a truer statement to define our weekend away….let alone our existence. LOL
So Valentine or not, whip up some Valentine’s Day cocktails, bake up some pizza, grab a bubbly shirt and celebrate a girl’s night in?!
