We’ve compiled the most fun and simple picnic ideas for you because after all, it’s the middle of August and if you’re from the Midwest you’re officially starting to cram in every outdoor event possible.  But with all the craziness that the end of August brings, you need something simple.

To create this fun, enjoyable bubbly themed simple picnic, you really only need a few key things to pull it off.  So pack some some delicious, easy to eat foods, and of course, canned bubbly, and some key essentials and sit back and enjoy.

Simple Picnic Food

What pairs well with bubbly?  Well, you know my answer, everything!  But, when thinking of a picnic, we packed things that would be easy to eat and bring out the best in the bubbly.

Cheese & Crackers

Seriously, I could eat cheese all day, everyday.  And there are a few that the experts say pair the best with bubbly, so that’s what I grabbed.

  • Brie
  • Cheddar
  • Goat
  • Machego
  • Parmesan crisps

Now, if you have cheese, of course you need crackers.  I grabbed a variety of crackers and breadsticks.

Laid Back Snacks

There are several nuts that pair really well with bubbly, but I decided to do something different and bring along several bags of Laid Back Snacks (previously Naked Snacks) .

  • Hearty Tamari
  • Sriracha Cashews
  • Southwest Chicks

These were so good with bubbly.  Each of them had a little kick to them (not much at all because I don’t eat spicy foods and I have a supply of Hearty Tamari at all times).  It was different than your typical nut selection and definitely enjoyed by everyone.

Not currently in the US, you can only buy them online, but trust me and do it!  You’ll probably need a case of Hearty Tamari.  If you’re lucky enough to live in Canada, you can find them at Whole Foods and Safeway.

Sweet Treats

And we couldn’t forget the sweets to top off the evening.  I have been known to do an entire treat board, but this time I just brought along some simple sweets.

  • Champagne Dreams Gourmet Gummies
  • Dark Chocolate Crisps (oh my gosh, these are AMAZING…we got them from Trader Joe’s)

Canned Bubbly

Canned bubbly perfect to create a super simple picnic.

And what bubbly picnic would be complete without bubbly?  We have had plenty of picnics where we brought bubbly bottles, but I don’t know about you, but this is the perfect excuse for canned bubbly!

Canned bubbly has become something we’ve spent a lot of time tasting because just like bubbly in a bottle, not all canned bubbly is enjoyable.  Yes, we have dumped out plenty, but we also fully stock our fridge with certain canned bubbly that is very good.

Now be sure wherever you’re picnicking that alcohol is allowed if you’re planning on packing any type of bubbly.

Simple Picnic Essentials

When I think of a picnic I plan for food and then everything else.  And in the everything else category are those essentials that just make the whole experience more enjoyable.

  • Wet Ones
  • Sun screen
  • Bug spray.
  • Bounce Dryer Sheets

Yes, Bounce Dryer Sheets…I never leave home for an outside event without them.  I know this may sound weird and I don’t know if it’s an old wives’ tale or not, but it seems to work.  Bounce Dryer Sheets will keep the bees away.  When we used to go apple picking, we’d each keep them hanging out of our pockets.  At summer parties, they became the center piece.  So trust me on this one and just pack them!

Even if you don’t think you’ll need this stuff, you’ll be happy you have it when the time comes.

And of course, don’t forget the plates, napkins and utensils. I shopped for the plates and cute napkins at the dollar section of Target.  The tumblers and tray I bought at Amazon and linked them up for you in our Bubbly Picnic shop on Amazon.

The perfect tumbler to pour your canned bubbly into.

And the best part of bringing canned bubbly is you don’t have to worry about any type of glassware, but if you like to pour your bubbly into a glass, we of course reviewed all sorts of tumblers for you.   We created fun customized Bubbly Side of Life tumblers (yes, these are the ones that “won” our experiment) to keep our bubbly chilled.
